“God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.” ~ Psalm 46:1
REFERENCE:
No matter who you are or how rich you are, we do not want trouble. Trouble can turn kings into beggars and make strong men cry. It has broken families, drained their resources, and left them impoverished. Trouble is whatever gets you worried or agitated; it brings distress, inconvenience, anxiety, fear, and discouragement. However, God is our present help in trouble.
I have been in situations where I was confused and fearful, times when I thought I would not see the next day, but somehow, God sustained me. About two years ago, I had an experience that knocked the air out of me. I can’t remember how many times I sighed and heaved in an hour; I felt my heart would fall out of my chest. As I write this, I remember that was not the first time. At such times, you question everything, wonder why, and ask where God is. Trouble is troubling.
Trouble is part of life; whether you expect it or not, it comes. Jesus said, “In this world, you will have trouble, but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” The good news is that God is a very present help in trouble. Jesus said rejoice because I have overcome the world. The poison has been removed from trouble; it only now comes to provide a platform for your promotion/testimony.
“A very present help in trouble” suggests that in any trouble you face, help is present if you wait on God and look out for Him. Paul said every temptation comes with a way of escape. God’s help comes in different ways in trouble: To deliver you, keep you from harm, turn it into a blessing, give you a support system, or make you learn things that will help you in the future. Change what you see when trouble comes; see God’s help, the blessing, and the way out.
You may be in trouble now; I assure you there is a way out. God has not forgotten you. One hymn says, “When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace.” Rest in God; He is working behind the scene. He will walk on water and save you from the storm. Our God is bigger than trouble and can deliver from and bless in trouble. David said no matter what shakes, roars, or trembles around us, God is a very present help in trouble.

CONFESSION:
Greater is He that is in me than whatever trouble I may face. I have overcome the world in Christ Jesus. I am coming out of every trouble with a testimony. I will come out better, more prosperous, stronger, and wiser. I receive God’s help as comfort, counsel, support, and provision. I will stand still and see the Lord’s salvation and goodness in the land of the living, in Jesus’ name. Amen!”
