“I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” ~ Psalm 121:1-2

Psalm 121:1-8
Albert Mehrabian found that communication is 55% body language, 38% vocal, and 7% words only. Hence, our non-verbal communication makes up over 90%, meaning our body language matters when we speak. Your actions genuinely reflect your intent and can be seen more precisely than your words when heard. Hence, trusting eyes talk of faith in God.
A picture speaks louder than a thousand words because people interpret the actions and facial expressions they observe. We see in the bible where people communicated with God with their posture: Abraham lifted his hand to show that God was his blesser, David danced to express gratitude, Solomon bowed to worship God, etc. It is possible to say the right things, but your posture says something else. Let your posture say to God that your eyes ever are on Him.
David said, “I lift up my eyes to the hills…” He was expressing absolute trust in God, calling Him His source of help. This posture said to God, you are my only option, my help, and my provider; we want Him to know beyond the shadow of a doubt that He is our provider. Looking up to someone to receive denotes expectation. It means the person is above you and can help you. The Psalmist says, “I will lift up my eyes to the hills, from whence cometh my help…”
By lifting your eyes (both physically and spiritually) to God, you are telling Him that He has your full attention; He will turn His face towards you like a caring parent. David said, “The eyes of all look expectantly to You, and you give them their food in due season.” God will not cut your expectations off. When you turn your eyes to the Lord, you also say to Him, “I seek Your face, not Your hands, and I want to be Your friend.” I trust You as my only option.
Change your posture, lift your eyes, and look to God in a posture of trust. Trusting eyes don’t focus on circumstances but on the God who can heal, provide, and restore what is lost. When the serpents of life bite, take your attention off the sting and look up to God for your help. The eyes are said to be a window to the soul; bare yours to God and let Him heal your heart.
