I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me. John 5:30
REFERENCE
John 5:30
A man trying to find a place had wandered in circuits for several minutes until he saw a young boy and asked him, “Please, how do I get to the City Museum?” The boy told him, “Walk 2 blocks straight down, turn right at the barber’s shop and walk down. That will take you to a cross junction; when you get there, ensure to enquire again.”
I am sure you have been in situations where you were stranded in unfamiliar territory and was only able to move forward when you received directions from someone who knew the territory. There is a unique roadmap that leads to fulfillment in all aspects of life; however, in our human capacity, we do not know it all.
Fortunately, we have and know a God who knows all things and lives in the future; so, wisdom demands that we constantly ask Him for direction in life, especially when we get to logjams or unfamiliar territory. Even Jesus, the Son of God as revealed in our text, couldn’t do anything without first hearing God. No wonder He had outstanding results.
Like a good parent, God is always willing to instruct and guide us. He wants to speak to us about every aspect of our lives; however, we have to consciously tune our ears to His frequency in order to hear Him. Regardless of what a radio station is broadcasting, until you tune your radio to that channel, you will not hear. Likewise, no matter what heaven is trying to say to you, you must TUNE IN TO GOD-FM to hear God.
Tuning in to God’s frequency means tuning in to hear His Word – through personal bible study, preaching, or listening through media. God speaks through His Word (II Timothy 3:16); so, get the Word, by all means, settle down to listen and meditate on it, it will be a lamp for your feet, and instruct you to take the right turns for your desired destination. When you draw close to God, He will draw close to you (James 4:8a).
It is only an arrogant person who, rather than asks for direction, continues along a path even when he knows he has lost his way. Be humble, ask, and position yourself to listen to the Good Shepherd.
