“Abraham, when hope was dead within him, went on hoping in faith, believing that he would become “the father of many nations.” He relied on the word of God which definitely referred to ‘your descendants’.” Romans 4:18 (PHILLIPS)

Romans 4:18-22 (PHILLIPS)
Faith is the power that brings the world to its knees. Where faith is at work, everything works. Every reasonable cause for Abraham to hope was gone. Yet, in faith, he kept on hoping; what an expression of faith! He could have given up on God, saying His promises were untrue, or He has favorites, but not Abraham. Contrary reports did not change his faith in God’s word.
We believe God for something, but at the first hint of delay or reversal, we give up and seek alternatives. However, Abraham’s faith was unstoppable. His impotence and his wife’s barrenness did not make him distrust God’s definite promise; he ignored them. He ruled out all godless options (having learnt from Hagar’s saga), maintained an attitude of gratitude, and never once complained or blamed God for his situation.
Such faith is difficult to deny; not by God, time, or the forces of nature. James 1:6-8 says, “But he must ask in sincere faith without secret doubts as to whether he really wants God’s help or not. The man who trusts God, but with inward reservations, is like a wave of the sea, carried forward by the wind one moment and driven back the next. That sort of man cannot hope to receive anything from God…” (Phillips). Unstoppable faith must eliminate all secret doubts.
To be unstoppable in receiving your promises, like Abraham, you must become absolutely convinced that God is able to implement His promises. Fight off contrary thoughts, fear, and doubt – not letting them destroy your faith. You must be committed to a life of gratitude, praise and worship; crediting God with thanksgiving even before you see the manifestation of your expectation. Abraham grew strong in his faith by thanking God.
Your faith walk is vital because everything depends on it; pay attention to it. Get into the word of God and feed your spirit continually with it, ignoring all distractions. Abraham was well advanced in age, yet, by faith, he ‘took’ his son from God. Whatever area of your life you want to see God’s promises fulfilled – salvation for a rebellious child, healing of a terminal disease, freedom from indebtedness, peace in your troubled marriage, finances to meet your financial obligations, career breakthrough – get a Word and express your faith like Abraham did. I pray that nothing will stop you from seeing your desires met, and may your faith produce fruits.
