For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. – Hebrews 5:13
REFERENCE
Hebrews 5:12-14
This passage talks about spiritual growth, but whatever is happening in your spirit will eventually affect your physical world i.e. finances, relationships, health, mindsets, etc,. Here, we see two kinds of people in the body of Christ and what they qualify to get – ‘babies’ who only qualify to get ‘milk’ and those who are of ‘full age’ who qualify to get ‘solid food.’
What separates these 2 groups of people is that, babies never do or put into practice what the Word of God instructs. They are not necessarily new Christians, but they struggle with obedience. So, they remain in one place.
On the other hand, those who have come to full age, always obey and practice what they hear in the Word of God. They take bold steps of faith and prove God’s Word to be true. So they go from one level of glory to another. Therefore, it is obedience that separates these two groups.
Every believer starts out as a baby in Christ, but is expected to grow into adulthood so they can become responsible in handling the affairs of the kingdom. However, when you remain a spiritual baby instead of growing, you become a liability because a baby cannot help itself or others.
