Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. Matthew 14:22
REFERENCE
Matthew 14:22-32
The first thing you notice in this passage is the fact that Jesus made His disciples get into a boat heading to a particular destination. We can thus conclude that the disciples were on an assignment for God and consequently, were in the will of God. However, their journey was interrupted by the waves and contrary winds that confronted them headlong. This clearly shows that the journey of life is not always smooth sailing even though we are walking in the will of God.
Some people equate the waves (storms) in a person’s life with walking in disobedience to God’s will; but that is not always the case. In fact, often times, it is when you decide to embark on a journey to fulfill the will of God that you face the fiercest winds in life. The enemy is eternally opposed to God, so he will naturally oppose anyone who intends to follow and fulfill God’s will in their lives. The storms and waves that assail you in the pursuit of your God-given assignment simply come to make you fearful and get you discouraged to the point of doubting if you are really in the will of God. However, you must realize that the presence of the waves and contrary winds will in no way thwart the will of God or invalidate His Word.
Jesus already had a destination (the other side He wanted to get to with His disciples) in mind before he made them get into the boat. In spite of the contradictions that came in the form of waves and contrary wind, they still had to complete that journey even though the enemy tried; he couldn’t stop God’s will. Therefore, as you journey daily to fulfill God’s will – to do what the Word says, to promote His Kingdom on earth as His ambassador, to follow divine instructions, etc., you will meet waves and winds that may attempt to sink you, sometimes it may look like you are almost sunk, but like Peter in the passage, God’s hands will always be there to steady you so you will not sink.
Therefore, do not allow fear, intimidation and lies from the enemy keep you from doing the will/Word of God, because the factory that produces every miracle is obedience to divine instructions. Defy the contradictions and forge on…and you will surely get to your destination in Jesus’ name. Contrary winds are sometimes necessary incentives to push you in the right direction.

PRAYER
Lord, enable me to withstand the waves and contrary winds that show up as I journey in obedience towards my destiny.
I will not be discouraged by contrary winds, for they are sometimes incentives to push me in the right direction!
