“While He spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped Him saying, ‘My daughter has just died, but come lay your hand on her and she will live.'” – Matthew 9:18
REFERENCE:
Life can be full of regrets; we look back at situations we wished turned out better or grapple with the ones that went bad. We often contend with losing opportunities, jobs, relationships, businesses, etc., for reasons beyond us. The account in today’s text shows that your situation may be bad, but it is not irreversible; God brings beauty out of ashes.
This man had a bad situation on his hand; it was the loss of his daughter, a future hope, his pride and joy, and a most special relationship. Yet, he understood what God wants us to learn today:’ your situation may be bad, but not irreversible.’ This father was dealing with death, the king of terrors, yet, he believed it was not irreversible. It was as though he was asking for medicine to be administered to a dead body. It sounds absurd, but he was asking this of Jesus.
No right-thinking physician wants to treat a dead body, but Jesus is no ordinary Physician. He is Lord over life and death; He is a Physician even after death—the resurrection and life. Therefore, dead situations are not irreversible with Him. You may have failed in school, career, business, relationship, or marriage, but it is not irreversible.
The dead girl’s father had more faith in Jesus’ ability to turn the situation around than he feared the deceased would remain dead. Why else would he approach Jesus to intervene in a ‘dead’ matter? The mourners told him not to bother seeking help for a dead situation, yet, he went. What have you thought is hopeless? It may be bad, but it is not irreversible.
With God, all things are possible. He has a way of dealing with bad situations; He can deliver by many or by few. He can keep from dying or raise back to life. He can create afresh altogether. Are you experiencing a dead situation in any area of your life? Take your eyes off it and focus them on Jesus, who gives life to the dead and calls the things that are not as if they were. Turn your faith on; it is not too late. It may be bad, but it is not irreversible for God.
