To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, To guide our feet into the way of peace. – Luke 1:79
REFERENCE
John 1:1-9
Imagine walking in a dark room filled with a lot of stuff, you will keep stumbling and falling over stuff until light is introduced in that room. Jesus’ coming is that light that is introduced into a dark place. We were sitting in darkness and groping about, stumbling and failing over the troubles of life and the trickery of the devil, before His Light shone and consumed our darkness.
Darkness represents ignorance, evil, wickedness and demonic powers. Jesus’ coming cured us of our ignorance of spiritual realities; it exposed the nature of Satan, dispelled his darkness and deception, and broke his influence over us.
Light on the other hand, represents everything good; light gives you an assurance in the dark world, light gives you speed, e.g. when driving at night, the ability to see gives you speed, while others without light will drive at snail speed. Light also represents knowledge, which means with light you are able to get quick solutions to problems because you have the ‘know how.’
Man at his best is blind, he is unaware of dangers around and perils impending. If left to himself, he will shipwreck his life and make devastating decisions. Jesus has come into this world, that those who do not ‘see’ (and who recognize it), may see. Jesus is the light of the world, and in Him there is no darkness, because of Him we can now walk in the light. Praise God!
