Now there was a famine in the days of David for three years, year after year; and David inquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, ‘It is because of Saul and his bloodthirsty house, because he killed the Gibeonites.’ ~ II Samuel 21:1
REFERENCE
II Samuel 21:1-14
The background to this passage is found in Joshua 9, when the Gibeonites entered into a peace treaty with the Israelites by deception. Although the treaty was made by falsehood, God still honored it because the Israelites swore by Him.
When king Saul went against the treaty by killing the Gibeonites, the consequence was a 3-year famine for the Israelites. Thankfully, David was able to get to the root of the problem and was also able to provide justice for the Gibeonites, which eventually led to the end of the famine as God heeded their prayers.
Jesus declared in John 10:10b “I have come that they may life and have it more abundantly.” The ‘They’ in this scripture refers to every believer. So literally, you can take this as the new covenant Jesus made with the Father concerning your stay on earth. His will is for you to live abundantly, and because God honors covenants, He will see to it that this covenant is fulfilled in your every day life.
Nothing and no one can annul God’s will in your life. The devil may try to throw things your way to make it look like it is impossible for you to live a life of abundance. Resist him steadfastly as you boldly declare about yourself what Jesus said about you in John 10:10b, and he will flee from you.
Be TREMENDOUSLY blessed this TUESDAY!
