Then the LORD turned to him and said, “Go in this might of yours, and you shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites. Have I not sent you?” ~ Judges 6:14

Judges 6:11-24
If many of us know what we are supposed to do, we would gladly do it; and if we know better, we would do better. One of the big things on the minds of many is purpose – what am I here for, and why? We wonder if we are not meant to do more than we are doing. What area of life should we be responsible for? We want a sense of mission, a charge, a responsibility! Guess where we can get them from? The Word of God!
It is amazing how Gideon was working at making fruit punches, but God had a greater responsibility for him. If it was not for the message from the Angel of God, He would not have known. The Angel first revealed his real identity to him, and secondly, the work he was to do – a responsibility to bear. That encounter with God’s Word gave his life meaning, a new direction, and an urgent assignment to carry out. It put his name in the books of history. After that day, he recorded a great military victory – defeating thousands with just three hundred men – because he became definite about God’s assignment for him.
As the Word of God shows us who we are, it also tells us what to do. Moses heard God in the burning bush, giving him his responsibility, “Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” (Exodus 3:10). Daniel found his responsibility to pray for the deliverance of his people from captivity when he started reading the writings of Prophet Jeremiah (Daniel 9:3). When Saul was knocked down on the road to Damascus, his identity was changed to Paul and his responsibility given – to be a chosen vessel to bear God’s name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel (Acts 9).
Are you seeking what higher purpose your life is about? Are you wondering what assignment God sent you here to accomplish? Are you asking, “What is my responsibility – as a Christian, a leader, a Politician, a Parent, a Husband/Wife, a Worker, etc.? Don’t waste time making ‘fruit punches’ when you should ‘lead an army’ to great victories. Get into the Word of God.
Deliberately and consciously ask God to reveal to you from His Word, the responsibility He has for you. You will be amazed at the ideas or instructions that will flood your mind. Someone is about to change to a faster, more productive and meaningful lane of life. You are about to come out of the cave to the place of impact and prominence. Find your responsibility, and your responsibility will find you!
