“…but only speak a word, and my servant will be healed.” – Matthew 8:8b
REFERENCE:
This Centurion, being a military person, understood the importance of the spoken word. He had the revelation that all he needed from Jesus was a word and his sick servant would be healed. As a soldier, he understood that once an authoritative command is given, it must be executed. Therefore, if Jesus gave him a word, he could ‘take it to the bank;’ it was as good as done. In 1 Kings 8:25-26, Solomon asked God to keep His Word (promise) to David. Solomon’s prayer was borne out of his intimate knowledge of God’s promise.
This soldier realized that if Jesus, being a Man of authority, spoke over the concern he had, it would be resolved. His word created the heavens and the earth and it can still create and recreate. You also need a word from the God of creation for that matter you are confronting; so, get into your bible and get God’s word into your heart. Jesus said, “If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire and it will be done.” The more you feed on the word, the more you long for its fulfilment in your life, because it would soon become prayers in your mouth. Get into the word and let God speak into the situation in your office, your health, children, travels, house-rent and your expectations. If He says a word, it will be resolved.
To hear God on a matter, set aside time to prayerfully study the scriptures, asking the Holy Spirit to speak to you. Get a concordance (or use Google) to search and study as many relevant verses as possible. Find the ones that most fit your context and which burn in your heart; write them down. Go to church and take notes during the sermon; also note scriptures used during prayers because you never can tell how and when God will speak to you. Then pray with the word, because when you do that, you echo God’s infallible word back to Him, confident that in the Court of Heaven, they bear irrefutable legality and are a credible witness.
When you get a (Spirit-inspired) word and begin to pray or confess it:
- You commit God to His word; for He cannot deny Himself.
- Angels are commissioned to work, because they give heed to the voice of God’s word – Psalm 103:20.
- You activate the voice that created all things, and all of Creation still responds to it today. Hebrews 11:3.
- You rarely pray amiss, knowing that you have secured God’s attention.
- You become a commander in the realm of the spirit. You stand as God to command, with devils bowing to you and demonic forces unable to overcome you.
What has God said about your marital status, your exam success and your health, that court case, the guilt or fear, the examination or job interview? What has He said about your property in contention or about your unsaved husband/wife/children? Get God’s word on the matter; present your case and produce your strong reasons. Argue your case like a good lawyer; show why satan’s plan should not stand. Give strong reasons for why you should be married, why that company should hire you and why your lost fortunes should be restored. Why should God stop the ‘lion’ from devouring you? Why should your payment that has been held back for months be made? Get God’s word concerning each issue and watch things change!
I practiced this in 2001 when I was planning to marry. Things were quite tough, so I got 3 scriptures and confessed them consistently for like 6 months. In the same year, everything changed. I got a car gift, got a job, got a large cash gift, got an accommodation, got married and got another car gift. It’s been 21 years.

CONFESSION
I declare that God will fulfill His promises in my life. The ‘Word’ that I am holding on to will produce results this month, there shall be a performance of the word spoken by God. Like Sarah, I expect God’s visitation for the fulfillment of His word in my life. I shall not fear! Every negative report will change and line up with the Word. Every personal setback will supernaturally turn around for good, and that which opposes me now will change and align with the Word of God. My God is a faithful Promise Keeper. What He has said He would do in my life, He will do it shortly and my mouth shall be filled with testimonies, in Jesus’ name.
Thank you Jesus!
His word created the heavens and the earth and it can still create and recreate. Glory to God!
Amen 🙏🏽
Thank you faithful promise keeper
