In these days of motivational teachings, many are caught in-between trusting God, and trusting other options like their qualifications, connections, intelligence, looks, money, etc, in achieving their goals in life. Nevertheless, until God sees that we are dependent on Him, He cannot commit to our cause.
You cannot say you trust God, that He is your Helper, and still hold tightly to other things; there must be a corresponding action of your reliance on God. Ruth, by her actions in our passage, showed her total reliance on the God of Israel by forsaking other options.
By this account in the book of Ruth and other accounts in scripture, we see that total dedication to God births power and victory for people.
When you burn all the bridges behind you, and let God know that you are fully, absolutely 100% committed to Him, sold out with nowhere to go and nothing to fall back on, then He will catch you, use you, and bless you in ways that will amaze you.

PRAYER POINTS
Pray for the grace to forsake every alternative that competes with God in your life; also for the ability to come to that place of surrendering (your family, education, career, business and) yourself as a living sacrifice unto God.
