Come therefore, let us now kill him and cast him into some pit; and we shall say, ‘Some wild beast has devoured him.’ We shall see what will become of his dreams! – Genesis 37:20
REFERENCE:
Dreams change the world, but the world likes to change dreamers. The world rarely understands dreamers because they often speak of things they have seen which are loftier than where they are. Dreamers disrupt the status quo and shake the system; without them, the world would be stuck in the rut of the old ways, but thank God for the new that dreamers introduce that come to stretch us.
Joseph had a dream. He dreamt of greatness and his calling to be a luminary to many nations. What we often fail to see in his dream is the important role his brothers were also to play. They were the stars bowing to him; this meant they would be stars in the future (heads of tribes), but they missed that and focused on the part that they would bow to Joseph. Therefore, they hated and envied him, seeking to kill him; even his father rebuked him. His dream threatened his brothers; they could not understand how God could trust so much into so little a boy. But that is our God; He will make a David king, make a virgin girl the mother of our Lord, and make a regular guy like Samson the custodian of so great an anointing. However, satan fought these dreamers to kill them and sabotage their dream; this was what he hoped to achieve through Joseph’s brothers.
God who gives dreams and works for the fulfillment of dreams protects dreamers from the schemes of satan and the wickedness of men. The brothers of Joseph sought to kill him and his dreams, but God restrained their madness. Israel as a nation was pregnant with the Messiah; hence, God restrained the madness of Balaam when he tried to curse them. The disciples of Jesus carried the dream of world evangelism; Jesus told the soldiers who came to arrest Him to let them go. The dream spared their lives.
You also have a dream from God; cherish and nurture it. You will not die until you birth and fulfill it; you will escape a thousand deaths just because of the dream. The world must hear your voice, read your book, patronize your business, and attend your institution – you cannot die! You will fulfill what God has said you will and become all He has called you to be, Jesus’ name! All who said in malice, “We will see what will become of your dream” will, in wonder, see your dreams unfold before their eyes. Your dream is your license to live.
