“God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity…” ~ Psalm 68:6
REFERENCE:
There is a myth about a particular warrior Grecian tribe who killed children born with deformity or inability because they could not stand having a weakling among their tribe. The law of natural selection also shows that weaker species of animals will die because they cannot adapt to their environment, while the stronger ones will reproduce. However, God cares for the weak.
The Psalmist in our text exhorts the saints to be glad and to rejoice exceedingly. He wanted them to sing to the God who rides on the wings of the wind and the clouds. David gave this charge as the natural response of God’s saints to the benevolent qualities of God that He was soon to mention. He called God the Father who fathers the fatherless, the mighty God who defends the widow, and the One who ensures that the solitary and bruised get their families.
Although God is great and is on high, He does not despise even the lowest. He is a God of great power but uses his power to relieve those in distress. The fatherless, the widows, and the solitary find Him to be their all-sufficient God. After such a declaration of God’s greatness and power, one would have expected that the next thing to be said is, “He is a friend of the rich.” The strong only think He is just for them, but God notices and cares for the weak.
God can fellowship with kings and make sure queens’ daughters are the only ones in His courts, but no, He has chosen to identify with you and me despite our mean pedigree. Love made him do it and care for the weak. See where He sent His Son when He came into the world; He did not send Him to a king’s palace or the governor’s praetorium but to a manger. Praise God!
We are blessed to have a God who cares for the weak and is a Father worth having. When the loss of their heads bereaves families, He takes care of them; the fatherless children and widows will witness Him fill the relationship gap left by their father/husband. He will care for, pity, teach, and provide for them. You may have recently lost a loved one; I want you to know that God knows; He feels your hurt and cares for you. God cares for the weak.

PRAYER:
+ Dear Lord, I come to You today in my weakness; I come with my wounds, scars, hurts, fears, and mistakes. I bring my bruised, battered, and broken self to You. Fix me, O Lord. Heal me of wounds from my past. Please give me the speed to make up for the lost years. Fill the emptiness I feel because of who and what I lost. Show up for me and in my weakness, O Lord, and let Your strength be revealed in my weakest moment, in Jesus’ name.
