“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you…” ~ Isaiah 43:2
REFERENCE:
A hiker is navigating a dense, fog-covered forest. Fear and uncertainty set in as the path becomes dangerous and the fog thickens. Just when it feels like all is lost, a reassuring voice breaks through the silence, “I’m here with you.” With those words, an experienced guide who knows the terrain intimately emerges from the mist, leading the way with unwavering confidence.
In these challenging times when the economy is like an unpredictable storm, the words of Isaiah bring us comfort and assurance. God’s message to His people then is His message to us today: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine.” You and I belong to a God who knows us intimately and cares deeply. When it feels like we are going through deep waters or facing the hot flames of trials, He declares, “I will be with you.”
The promise of God’s presence is not an empty one. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Just as He delivered the Israelites from the Red Sea and the fiery furnace in Babylon, He will deliver us from present challenges. In times of economic hardship and depression, you can take refuge in His unwavering presence, knowing that even when your circumstances seem impossible, they will not overcome you, and the ‘flaming’ trials will not consume you.
God’s assurance to be with you is not dependent on circumstances. In the depths of despair and storms of adversity, His presence shows the strongest. As we face a tough economy and increased distress, hold tightly to God’s unchanging hand. He has redeemed us as precious jewels and loves us deeply. In exchange for your anxieties, He offers you His perfect peace.
Let me end with this song that often encouraged me years ago:
I’m gonna hold to His hands, God’s unchanging hands. (2ce)
I’m gonna build my hopes on things eternal.
I’m gonna hold to God’s unchanging hands.
At the end of it all, our hope is beyond this world. Let that encourage your heart always.
