“And he said to him, “Look now, there is in this city a man of God, and he is an honorable man; all that he says surely comes to pass. So let us go there; perhaps he can show us the way that we should go.” ~ I Samuel 9:6
REFERENCE:
Your journey to ‘better’ has already begun. The new year’s clock has started to tick, and it gets better from here. God spoke prophetically yesterday that this season will mark a turning point for the better all around you. God will give you a complete makeover to benefit you this new year. May the fear of the past not stop you from enjoying the new.
Kish sent his son, Saul, to find the family’s missing donkeys. They probably were under Saul’s care, and some went missing. That must have resulted from Saul’s bad supervision, and he would have to find them as punishment. The search was arduous, and it took days until Saul and his servant became weary, finished their food, and faced going home empty-handed.
Saul was in a dilemma at this point. Would he remain a failure, unable to find what he sought? Would he continue living an insignificant and measured life under his father’s shadow or have a quantum leap and a change for the better? At the end of it all, Saul became king. He chose to become better. From Saul’s story, we see the recipe for moving from where you are to ‘better.’
a. Right Associations: Saul’s servant was well positioned to give Saul the needed advice. He also had the resources to use to get the information they sought. To be better, form strong and profitable partnerships or relationships. Be with people who also have a sense of purpose, and don’t be afraid to leverage the wisdom, knowledge base, and resources of others.
b. Make Wide Consultations: When Saul and his servant reached a fork in the road and didn’t know where to turn, they met some women and asked for directions. Thank God their male ego did not rob them of the help the women could give. You must consult widely, investigate, and ask questions to move from good to better. Be inquisitive. Get data and information on the area of your life (marriage, business, career, etc.) you want to be better.
See how important the place and power of people is. The servant gave advice, the women gave direction, and Samuel gave Saul the word of the Lord. Indeed, it gets better from here, but you need people to help you make the journey a success. May God bless you with people this year.

PRAYER:
+ Father, this year, send me the people who can help me on my journey to better myself. People of knowledge, skills, and means.
+ Saul’s missing donkey led him to kingship. Father, let the things I have lost open the door to great blessings from God – bigger than what I lost or seek.
