“Now the Lord had told Samuel in his ear the day before Saul came, saying, 16 “Tomorrow about this time I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him, commander, over My people Israel…” ~ I Samuel 9:15-16
REFERENCE:
We will continue to look at the recipe for moving from where you are to ‘better.’ A series of decisions changed the trajectory of Saul’s life from an ordinary civilian to a commander of Israel. We saw how forming the right association and making wide consultations can make a huge difference in a man’s journey to better. No matter where you are now, it gets better from here.
The last two decisions that Saul made were spiritual in nature. The first two had something to do with people, but the two we will now consider are time-tested spiritual principles. It is vital because the spiritual governs the physical. Many believers seem to forget this, but ‘spiritual’ people (involved with all kinds of spiritism, occultism, black magic, fraternities, etc., often run the world, and we often have to compete or walk with them in the arena of life.
a. Seek God for Direction: God has the map to the place called better; go to Him in earnest prayers to guide you. Having failed in his search, Saul realized God knew what he did not. Be devoted to God and His word this year, and get Him involved in all your quests. May you experience the God-advantage in your enterprise this year, in Jesus’ name.
b. Honor God’s Prophets: God often uses His ministers as a conduit of His blessing to His people. Find your God-assigned Prophet (minister or pastor) and honor them. Seek their counsel and prayers, and be generous to them with your resources. It secures you a biblical advantage called the ‘Prophet’s Reward.’ Saul and his servant decided to go to the Prophet and take a gift to him. As you may rightly know, some people have seances, gurus, shamans, diviners, etc., that they consult and have on their payroll. Be wise.
God already told Samuel about Saul’s destiny; he had the key to unlock his ‘better.’ What if Saul did not make the effort to go to him? Get God involved and honor His servants. Satan is doing everything today to discredit God and His ministers, but that is the winning combination, and the wise will take advantage of both. Do not despair; it gets better from here.

PRAYER:
+ O Lord, give me the discernment to understand the spiritual dimension of the affairs of my life. May I not be ignorant of the wiles of the devil.
+ Lord, I invite You to get involved in all my affairs: family, business, career, academics, sports, etc. If it concerns me, Lord, let it be of great interest to You, in Jesus’ name.
+ I destroy satanic altars that contend with my exploits in the marketplace. I prevail over satanic manipulations through Christ Jesus, amen.
