“O my soul, you have said to the Lord, “You are my Lord, my goodness is nothing apart from You.” – Psalms 16:2
REFERENCE: Psalm 16:1-6
In the bible, God was called ‘My God!’ by many. Jehovah Elohay is the name that reveals intimacy, tenderness, and affection between you and God, the God you can call on in the day of trouble. The deposit of experience that resulted from God’s deliverance in trials, troubles, tribulations, and tempests led them to call Him “My God!” This intimate name comes out of difficult situations God brings us through.
Apostle Paul was a man that had a rich walk and encounter with God. He experienced various deliverances, protection, miracles, revelations, and visions, and could therefore pray using the name, Jehovah Elohay. He said, “My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory,” because he knew Him from experience. It is like having bragging rights – ‘My God,’ ‘My God is a good God.’ Your children get to know Him because they see Him at work in you; your neighbors and colleagues can testify of His interventions and goodness in your life.
David met Jehovah Elohay through his fugitive years of betrayals and trials. The three Hebrew men encountered Him as the fourth man in the fire; they used the plural form of the name, ‘Our God (Jehovah Eloheenu) will deliver us from the fire.’ When Daniel came out of the den of lions unhurt, he said, “My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths, so that they have not hurt me.”
Jesus missed His presence on His cross; He cried, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken me?” He missed intimacy with the Father, but it had to be so for a while. You also can call God, Jehovah Elohay. You have experienced His deliverance, healing, restoration, and power. Marriages healed, debts canceled, false allegations dropped – Jehovah Elohay did it. Build your relationship with Jehovah Elohay; deepen your knowledge of God and your intimacy with Him. Those who know their God shall be strong and do great exploits. Jehovah Elohay is with you; He will be there to rescue you from the fiery furnace, the storms, and the darts of the evil one.
