2 Corinthians 5:17-21
The first man, Adam, was the peak and the crowning beauty of God’s creation. He was given dominion and he was the god of the then created world. But he lost it all to satan through the sin of disobedience and that affected the rest of mankind; however, Christ came to restore what he lost and even much more than that to mankind. Thus, your redemption in Christ is a complete and comprehensive insurance for a life of honor and dignity.
Salvation is more than an escape route to heaven, it qualifies you for abundant life here on earth (John 10:10b). You no longer possess ordinary life but you now possess the ‘ZOE’ life, which is SUPER-ABUNDANT IN QUANTITY AND SUPERIOR IN QUALITY.
Our text says ‘when you are in Christ, you are a new creation and the old ‘you’ has passed away.’ This means you never existed before, so the timid, weak, poor, sick, foolish, sinful and ignorant ‘you’ that existed before Christ has passed away.
In place of the former ‘you’ is a new specie made with the DNA of God and empowered to reign on the earth; so you are no longer subject to the norms in society. For instance, if you come from a family where members suffer from hereditary diseases (e.g. diabetes), or from generational curses, or poverty, or marital problems, or near-to-success syndrome or even short-life span, you can declare yourself exempted, because by your new birth, you no longer belong to that lineage. Your new lineage in Christ connects you with the divine nature and puts you above these circumstances.
Beloved, don’t settle for less, Christ came so you can live life to the full, so ‘LIVE IT!’
