Those who are planted in the house of the LORD Shall flourish in the courts of our God. – Psalm 92:13
REFERENCE
Psalm 92:12-15
The root is that part of a plant that attaches it to the ground and conveys water and nourishment to the rest of the plant. Every physical thing we see, e.g. trees have an unseen root that sustains them; their durability, strength, sustenance, survival and the health of their fruit is ultimately determined by how deep their roots go into the ground.
In the Bible, trees are used to refer to man (Psalm 1:3, 92:12); so like a tree, your roots or foundation determines the kinds of fruits you will produce as a Christian. But, in this age of short cuts and quick fixes, we forget that roots must first be established downwards to receive nourishment, before growth can occur upwards.
As a Christian, God has called you to a life of deep rootedness in Christ, meaning your sustenance must come from Him because He is the Vine and you are the branch. Dan. 11:32b says: “those who know their God shall be strong and do exploits.” In other words, the level of your exploits in life is dependent on the depth of your knowledge of God; and that knowledge can only be accessed in the place of fellowship with Him.
Also, today’s passage connotes that it is those who are planted in the Lord that shall flourish and bear fruits at different stages of their life.
The devil is aggressive with his plans to devour in the life of the Christian; it takes a vigilant Christian who is knowledgeable about God to withstand him and not fall for his antics.
How do we develop roots in Christ? Find out tomorrow.
