Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. – John 15:13
REFERENCE John 15:9-14
Yesterday, we talked about love not just being in our speech but in our actions. Today’s text further buttresses that truth. True love (God’s kind) can only be measured by the sacrifices you are willing to make for the people connected to you.
A sacrifice means you are ready to give up something of value (money, time, comfort, etc), for the sake of others. The account in Mark 2:1-12 is a good point of reference for giving up something valuable for others. If nothing else, at least these four people gave up their precious time to get help for their sick friend. The man’s healing restored the use of his legs; hence, he could make progress in life.
You also can express God’s love to others in practical ways to help them make progress in life. With your money, you can offer scholarships to children; give someone money to start a trade, pay a struggling single mother’s rent, etc,.
With your time, you can connect someone to an employment opportunity, offer wise advice to someone who needs direction, pray for that family that is going through a tough time, and so much more…
Every sincere act of love points the beneficiaries to Jesus, and they will thank Him for sending you their way. Let someone experience the love of God through you today!
