And having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; And take the helmet of salvation… – Ephesians 6:15 & 17
REFERENCE
Ephesians 6:10-17.
Today, we will look at two of the armors we were instructed to arm ourselves with in this bible passage. They are: to shod our feet with the gospel of peace; i.e. be ready to move and spread the gospel of peace wherever God leads, and to take the helmet of salvation. If the gospel of peace is preached all over the world, and people receive it, it will mean less havoc in the world; because Satan needs human agents to promote his agenda on earth. But when people become liberated because of the gospel of peace, they will no longer be pawns in his hands.
Imagine you came in contact with someone who planned to hurt or maim people through a dastardly act, but somehow, you preached the gospel to them and they get saved, baptized in the Holy Ghost, and decides to live for Christ, you would have succeeded in defusing Satan’s terror, which he would have carried out through that person. Thereby, weakening the kingdom of darkness; and bringing peace to the whole world.
John 14:27, reveals that Jesus has given us His peace, therefore, we can withstand any evil day without flinching or losing grounds to the enemy. It is peace that passes all understanding…the world can’t give it and the world can’t take it away.
A helmet is a protective gear over your head that protects it from injuries. Thoughts emanate from the head (mind); and the wrong thoughts can form unhealthy strongholds. Satan levels a lot of his attacks in the mind; his entire system of warfare against us is based on DECEPTION (to make you believe a lie, an untruth, a half-truth, a twisted truth, a truth-like lie, etc.), he is called an old serpent because of his craftiness; experienced in the art and trade of tempting people via their minds.
Salvation means to be delivered from sin and its consequences; it speaks of hope. To wear the helmet of salvation will be to walk in the consciousness that you have been delivered from the power of darkness and brought into God’s light. Like the hair on Samson’s head, it represents God’s covenant with us. It can be likened to the continual renewal of your mind with the truth of salvation (hope) that has granted you deliverance from everything you need to be delivered from in life. This hope you have as a believer is what will protect your mind from falling victim to the subtle deceptions of the devil.
