THE LORD HELPED ME

“You pushed me violently, that I might fall, but the Lord helped me.” ~ Psalm 118:13

In the verses preceding the main text, David refers to his distress, the potential fear of man’s wickedness, his haters, and how nations of enemies surround him like bees. He equally mentions how he will vanquish them all in the name of the Lord. In his agony, he says, “You pushed me violently that I might fall, but the Lord helped me.” David found hope in God’s help.

Can you identify with David? Are you surrounded by opposing forces, thoughts, worries, depression, or by people who can’t stand your growth (some naively making life unbearable for you)? Do you often wonder why making progress comes with so much difficulty; you take a step forward but three backward? Satan is behind it. He uses people who seem to be against you and fills your mind with wrong thoughts and pictures of failure. He pushes violently against your peace of mind, financial well-being, and marital fulfillment, and his objective is to make you fall.

David says, ‘No matter how violently the enemy pushes me, I will not fall;’ his reason is that He found help in God. Whatever is pushing you to fall has not been given the sovereign right over your life by God; it won’t succeed. If God is for you, who can be against you? Underneath you are God’s everlasting arms; no wonder David said, ‘The Lord is my strength, and His right-hand does valiantly. Hang in there; God will help you, and you will not fall or fail; you will succeed.

When God is done helping David, He puts a new song of rejoicing in his mouth; the man that is pushed to fall is now dancing, leaping, and testifying. Satan and his agents are put to shame because that is not supposed to be the outcome. Although David possessed skill, courage, and strength, it took the help of God to give him victory. He must have raised helpers who encouraged, prayed, served, and supported David.

I speak over you this season: “You will not fall; the devil will not push you down. Every attempt by opposing forces, or those used by the devil (whether knowingly or not), shall not stand in your life. I stop every hand trying to push you down and declare that God’s divine hands will henceforth push you forward. You will have testimonies after testimonies, and the voice of rejoicing shall be heard in your tent shortly. Despite all satanic calculations and plans, YOU SHALL NOT DIE; you will do all God put in your heart to do. May God arise on your behalf and make your testimony be this: “The Lord Helped Me!”

PRAYERS:

+ I will succeed despite opposition and resistance. Those who push against me will be unable to stop me from getting to my destination.

+ I declare that the Lord will help me. I shall not die but live to see God’s right-hand work in my life, and the voice of rejoicing will perpetually be in my house as I celebrate God’s goodness.
