“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” ~ John 10:27
REFERENCE:
Sheep are experts at discerning the voice of their shepherd. During World War I, some Turkish soldiers tried to steal a flock of sheep from a hillside near Jerusalem. The shepherd, who had been sleeping, awoke to find his sheep being led away by strangers. He couldn’t recapture them by force, so he called out to his flock with his distinctive call. The sheep listened and returned to their rightful owner. The soldiers couldn’t stop them from returning to their shepherd’s voice.
A sheep’s greatest security is to know and respond to the voice of its shepherd. The inability to discern the shepherd’s voice exposes a sheep to the danger of being misled. Likewise, as the Lord’s sheep, our greatest security in the world we live in is in being able to discern the voice of God. Scripture says, “You will hear a voice behind you saying this is the way, walk in it.”
Many of us have drifted away from the Good Shepherd; we are victims, expressions, or even echoes of the stranger’s voice. If you don’t know the voice of God, you will not be able to discern the voice of the stranger. You will commend and applaud what you should not and post or share what you should not online. You will be quick to condemn, criticize, or castigate things about which you have no complete knowledge. You will be ignorant of what the spirit of God is saying or doing per time, and the stranger will easily deceive you and lead you astray.
To know the voice of the Good Shepherd, become an addicted student of the Bible. Moses said, in Deuteronomy 27:10, “Therefore you shall obey the voice of the Lord your God, and observe His commandments and His statutes which I command you today.” He expected Israel to obey the voice of God by observing His commandments (written on stones). The voice of God is heard loudly through the pages of the Bible. Neglecting it makes us susceptible to strange voices and going astray. The more time you spend in the Bible, the more you become familiar with the voice of God. I have often heard God speak to me during Bible study; the word suddenly takes on life and finds pinpoint relevance in my life or situation.
The written word of God speaks about marriage, learning, friendship, profiting in business, the need for wisdom, innovative ideas, etc. I read about a man who designed wheels that could turn in four directions after he read about the ‘wheel within a wheel’ in Ezekiel 10:10. The more we study the Bible, the clearer we will hear the voice of God and be able to identify any voice that speaks contrary to God in our minds, via the media, or by any human being.
Again, Jesus said, “My sheep recognize my voice.” That should be your goal.

REFLECTION:
Any voice that claims to be of God will never speak contrary to His revealed truth in the Bible. If you never heard a subjective voice in your mind, the Bible is sufficient for you – obey it and God will guide and prosper you. Remember, where the word of God is not known, the will of God is not known. Get into God’s Bible today; it is life to those who find it, and health to all their flesh.
My goal : recognize the Voice of the Lord
My task: obey the Voice of the Lord.
My outcome: health, life, light etc.
Amen!
‘Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left.’
Because, my ear has been trained and disciplined by the Bible, I hear and recognise my shepherd’s voice. A stranger’s voice, I will not hear 🙏🏼
The more I hear his voice, the more I know his will, Hallelujah!!!!
