Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end. He did not give up because of the cross! On the contrary, because of the joy that was waiting for him, he thought nothing of the disgrace of dying on the cross… – Hebrews 12:2 (Good News Bible)

REFERENCE
Hebrews 12:1-2

As we approach the end of the year, it is good for you to begin to attune your heart to what God will do in the coming year. This year may have had its challenges, but the year is not over yet…and there is yet another year, and in fact, years ahead of you! There may have been things you expected to happen this year and perhaps, they have not yet happened and you are feeling disappointed, but who says they can’t still happen? Rejoice ahead of time, for though it tarries, the bible says, wait for it, for it shall surely come to pass (Habakkuk 2:3).

Now, we must always remember that we do not judge or measure God by what He does but by who He is. It is better to have His heart than to have His hands; it is better to know His ways than to know His works. Our hearts must safely and constantly trust in Him. He is a dependable ally, the invisible King over our visible kingdom, the one who says a thing and it is done, time is in His hands, He is El-Shaddai – the fully breasted One!

From our text, we see that there is a coming joy. However, one wonders why it comes late or after times of enduring pain and tough times. David said in Psalm 30:5, “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” Weeping seems to often come before joy and hence, endurance is needed.

Therefore, no matter where you are on the journey of your life or destiny, understand that joy is coming. The glory of the latter must surpass that of the former. You have not seen your best days yet, you have not shared your best testimony yet, God has not ‘closed the book’ on you yet, there are still colorful chapters to be written, you will still laugh louder than ever, you will yet sing again, you will yet be a reference point of God’s goodness to many others. Don’t quit yet…I am fully persuaded that there is a coming joy! That was why Jesus stayed on the cross, that was why He endured the pain, that was why He despised the shame – He saw the coming joy! Hang on, YOUR JOY IS COMING!

We serve a God who keeps appointment with people; He will not start failing with you!
