THERE IS A COMING JOY – 2

For yet a little while, And He who is coming will come and will not tarry. Hebrews 10:37

In our first episode, we saw that joy usually comes after weeping; and so there is a coming joy for you, as long as you will not quit. You may say, “I have believed and expected for months or years, why should I continue to believe?” Because believing still gives you a chance of receiving; but not believing puts the nail to the coffin and closes every door of possibility. Moreover, unbelief/doubt is not good for your heart and for your walk with God, because you may begin to question God and wonder if He is truly a good God.

Hebrews 6:12 says, we should be imitators of those who through faith and patience inherited the promise. The temptation is always there to cast away your confident trust in God, but who knows if God is just around the corner?

Our text says, “HE who is coming will come and will not tarry.” Notice that it is not ‘that which’ is coming, but ‘He who’ is coming. In other words, our ultimate expectation is the coming of the Lord. It is His coming that brings joy. Your joy is not in things; it is in His intervening presence!

You cannot and must not limit God and what He can do in the remaining days of the year; He can turn things around and give you a testimony. It is not too late or too impossible for God to still work. He promised that He will come! The situation may be looking bad and threatening, but He will come. He will show up for you and turn mourning into dancing.

We often get perplexed at certain ‘oddities’ in life. For example, John 10:10 (The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.) On seeing this verse, one is tempted to question why the B part is not before the A part (i.e. Jesus coming before the thief/Satan) or why the A part is even there at all. The A part is there because ‘that’s just life! Life happens!’ There is a devil whose job is to invade, seize, steal, and carry away another’s property. But I believe God never wants the end of your story to be bad and sad, that is why He comes at the end; He is a God of happy endings who wants your end to be better than your beginning!

By the mandate you have in Christ Jesus, begin to put an end to the dispensation of the thief in your life; declare that enough of stealing of your time, relationships, health, opportunities, peace, joy, etc.
