“Say to those who are fearful-hearted, “Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, With the recompense of God; He will come and save you.” ~ Isaiah 35:4
REFERENCE:
Life can happen to you and detain you in a place where you become despondent and can’t see your way forward. Imagine living continually afraid and weak, dealing with adversarial attitudes from people around you. Satan is a master in pounding a person’s mind until he is overwhelmed with discouragement. Fear not; wait; God will come and deal with your situation.
Waiting for God to intervene or answer us can be perplexing. This is because although we want to wait on God, we don’t have a fixed time on the calendar when He promises to come. Waiting, therefore, requires great faith and trust. We are always between where we are and where we want to go—in between prayers and answers, work and pay, singlehood and marriage, etc. Learn to handle your ‘in-between’ (waiting) periods well because they are a period of growth.
To wait is to stay where you are or to delay action until a particular time or until something else happens. When Isaiah spoke to fearful, weak, broken, and displaced Israel in our text, he realized that their condition could lead to despair or seeking ungodly options. Hence, by telling them to wait, he wanted them to delay such actions until they see God, until He comes with a vengeance to deal with all those who have plundered them and give them His recompense.
Waiting does not mean just sitting down and doing nothing; it means remaining in ‘readiness’ for something. Isaiah told Israel that while they waited, they should strengthen the weak hands and feeble knees; he told them to be strong and to replace fear with expectant faith—“your God will come, you can count on it.” Therefore, waiting on God means remaining in active service, and at the same time, you expect His intervention or visitation without losing faith or enthusiasm.
Have you had to wait to download a short video file on social media because of bad internet? It may take 3 minutes, but it looks like an eternity. Waiting is difficult for our microwave and instant messaging generation. Never conclude that God has forgotten you or is delaying; you will lose hope. Don’t go after ungodly alternatives; wait; God will come. He will come and help you, heal you, promote you, and turn it in your favor. Wait until your breakthrough comes.
