Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:11
REFERENCE
Ephesians 6:10-17
In life, the most important battle you must fight and win is the one that takes place in your mind. That is where the real battle takes place. It is a battle that must be constantly fought…and contrary to popular belief, it may shock you to know that it doesn’t always answer to prayers or deliverance.
Remember, the devil is a liar and his aim is to steal, kill and destroy. He wants to mess up our minds, which will consequently affect our marriages, our habits, our relationships, our families, our jobs, make us displease God and ultimately drag people in the path of destruction.
Sometimes, the seeds of low self-image, a sense of worthlessness, condemnation, depression and rejection are planted in our minds by those we are close to. The greatest slavery a man can be in is the slavery of the mind. You must do everything to liberate your mind from the influence of Satan and mindsets he has planted in you.
Oftentimes, Satan tries to gain control of our minds early in life with thoughts like; ‘you are not good enough’, ‘nobody loves you’, ‘you will not amount to anything’, “If you attempt it, you will fail,” etc. If you meditate on this lie/error, you will begin to see yourself as a failure; a ‘stronghold’ forms in your mind and it becomes difficult to change the negative outcomes of your life. Mind you, a stronghold is simply ‘a lie you have believed for so long.’
The best way to break negative strongholds and win the battles of the mind is by meditating on God’s Word. Jesus Christ said in John 8:31-32, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” The Word of God is where the victory of the mind begins, and victory in the mind means victory in life.
You must make a commitment to watch your mind – what you hear, watch or believe – in order to maintain a tight rein over your mind. Guard your heart with all diligence! Quit having a defeatist mindset. You need continuous practice of thinking and declaring the Word of God over yourself and your circumstance. Thoughts are powerful; think right thoughts, think your way out of low self-esteem, think possibility, good thoughts, positive thoughts, etc. Because as you think, so are you. Renew your mind… cast down the lies you have believed for long and establish the truth of the Word in your mind.
Remember, life is not fun fair but warfare…and warfare does not begin with prayer. It begins with renewing your mind with the Word of God – it begins with winning the Mind War!
