Then she said to her mistress, “If only my master were with the prophet who is in Samaria! For he would heal him of his leprosy.” And Naaman went in and told his master, saying, “Thus and thus said the girl who is from the land of Israel.” ~ II Kings 5:3-4

II Kings 5:1-5
Expectation is a strong belief that something will happen or be the case in the future. “When you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on” This quote by Abraham Lincoln speaks of the need to always keep hope alive. God may yet have a surprise for you. Expectation begets manifestation that is why in spite of past failures, you must keep your expectations high with each new day as that may just be the day God shows up.
Here, we saw a man who given his status in life, might have done all to find a cure for his leprosy but failed, yet was expectant. I believe Naaman was in a position of expectation; it was obvious he had not resigned to fate; his much-needed miracle could come from anywhere and he was ready for it and would not despise whatever source it came from. His earnest expectation for a miracle was in top gear; thus, when the slave girl gave the suggestion, he excitedly swung into action. He was looking out for ways his miracle may come. He was open to receive help, that’s why he listened to the servant girl.
For so many of us, our expectation died with the series of disappointments we experienced. So, rather than live with eagerness for a miracle, we have devised ways to cope with the challenge; we don’t like where we are, but we have learnt to live with it, afraid to hope and be disappointed again. We believe that if it hadn’t happened up until now, it may never happen again, but that is a lie from the pit of hell. God is not limited and He can fulfill your desires via any source and by unconventional methods.
So, are you still expecting? Are you waiting like the basket-baller, eager for when the ball will be passed to you? That God hasn’t showed up yet doesn’t mean He won’t show up; for even the bible says that your expectation shall not be cut off. Be on the lookout…a miracle may just be around the corner.
