“…And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!” – Esther 4:16b
REFERENCE:
When we become comfortable with a good job, money, a good spouse and children, we begin to lose focus and our zeal wanes. It is at such times that we need fire starters like Mordecai to help us refocus, restore our passion, give perspective to our privileges and to stir us to fulfil God’s purpose. “Perhaps, God has placed you in your church, family, office and your community for such a time as this.” This may be why God got you saved and gave you a job, a wife, money, etc. Your ‘good things of life’ are God’s gift to you, what you do with them is your gift to God!
A false sense of security tells us we are immune to the ills of this world, that our money can provide health for us; that our security apparatuses can keep us safe from attacks or incursion, that our thriving business(es) will always prosper and our jobs will give us financial security. But it is not always so. This false sense of security and comfort causes us to miss our devotions, slack in our prayers and shirk fellowship; so, many have lost their fervor and zeal. Never allow wealth and comfort to desensitize you to God and to your obligations to His Kingdom on earth!
Mordecai said to Esther, “God didn’t bring you out of obscurity just for yourself. You are in the palace for the salvation and the preservation of the Jews, not to wear nice clothes – never forget.” He was saying to her, “I know you love God with a passionate zeal, but LET IT SHOW!” Zeal is also birthed as a ‘response of appreciation’ for what God has given or done for you. Zeal always gets God’s attention; Jesus noticed the zeal of both Zacchaeus and Bartimaeus. When David decided to build God’s house, God promised to build him a house.
“If I perish, I perish!” You can hear Queen Esther’s zeal; it is audible and visible. She was willing to stake all she had to serve the will of God for her people. So, like Mordecai, I charge you, “Forget about yourself for once and take a risk for God; let your zeal be heard and seen! God has a plan in mind for you and there is work for you to do. Get involved and serve in your church, be inconvenienced for God and His work. I pray God sends a fire-starter into your life.

CALL TO ACTION
What legacy will you leave behind for God’s Kingdom – your service, your money, your time, your possessions? What are you currently doing in the house of God? David said in Psalms 84:10 (TPT), “For just one day of intimacy with You, is like a thousand days of joy rolled into one! I’d rather stand at the threshold in front of the Gate Beautiful, ready to go in and worship my God, than to live my life without You in the most beautiful palace of the wicked.” So, you cannot be a benchwarmer who just enjoys the ambience of the kingdom without serving and making an impact. No! Determine from today to show your Zeal for the Kingdom and for God.
This zeal is audible and visible not the sitting pretty kind of I love God. I recognise and acknowledge the things You have blessed me with are Your gifts to me, help me consciously use them as my gift to You dear Lord.
I serve The Lord Christ in my capacity as a woman and my love for Him will be seen. I am born for a time like this.
There’s always the susceptibility to assume that having a major breakthrough means rest on every side, hence the time for physical and spiritual relaxation. Rather fasting should increase, exercise should increase. The devil is a committed, diligent, disciplined fellow. Aisha! Increase & enlargement is coming, husband is coming, children are coming; Don’t you dare be at ease in Zion!
Great insight, Aisha.
My love for God needs to be seen! I am here for such a time as this. Thank you Jesus for your zeal upon me
Amen!
“… LET IT SHOW ! ”
It’s impossible to conceal a burning fire 🔥.
Thank you Father for the Mordecais in my life pushing me to find a purpose to live for by finding a cause to die for 🙏🏽
Indeed! Let it show.
I receive the grace to be a doer and not just a reader.
Thank you Pastor Wale and Pastor Uduak for being the Mordecais in my life through this devotionals.
It picks me up when I am down and keeps focussed on walking the right path and returning to my first love,, God, when I falter.
Thanks Shiza. We thank God for His grace.
May my zeal for you Lord be constantly renewed and unquestionable by the worldly gains and may I be surrounded by the likes of Mordecai to remind me that the palace I may have the privilege to dwell in is as reason of the ZEAL of the love and mercy of God in Jesus Christ’s precious name I pray! Amen!
