NEW TONGUES: BENEFITS

Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.  Romans 8:27

Yesterday we concluded with the thought that the spirit realm only understands the language of power; and for a believer, speaking in tongues is your language of power. Below are some of the benefits of speaking in tongues:

One: You magnify God and thank Him most accurately: It is a supernatural means of speaking to God because you are speaking mysteries to Him – you discuss at His level and you cut off every human intermediary, you cut off your mind and you even cut off the devil – he can’t understand your prayers to hinder it like Daniel’s (Acts 10:46, I Corinthians 14:2, Daniel 10:12-13).

Two: It edifies you. It builds you up and charges you up like a battery. The power of God that is dormant in you is stirred up and you’ll be strengthened. It also fills you with supernatural boldness to minister Christ or to confront situations. (Jude 20).

Three: You pray according to the will of God. Physically, you are limited in your mind and in your decision-making capacity but when you pray in tongues, the Holy Spirit helps to pray the best prayer for you in every situation (Romans 8:26).

Four: It connects you with God’s wisdom for situations and sharpens your discernment: God shows you what to do in every situation the more you pray in tongues (I’ve seen that play out in my life severally when preparing a message or in decision making). You discern what people are about, what spirit is operating in a place, what business to do or not to do, when to travel, etc. (Mark 8:16-17).

Five: It causes your spirit man to gain ascendancy over the flesh. This helps you to deal with bad habits and to overcome temptations. God told me that when we fall for temptation, it is because our flesh is what responds first to the stimulus to sin, because it is more fed than the spirit. If we feed the spirit by praying in tongues and starve the flesh, victory over temptation will just be a walk-over. (Romans 8:13b)

You may have been mighty in God without praying in tongues, but with praying in tongues, you will be more powerful. No wise believer should refuse this all powerful gift and privilege.

+ If you are Born Again and yet to be baptized in the Spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues, ask the Holy Spirit to baptize you today and give you your own prayer language. Then open your mouth and by faith, begin praying in tongues.

+ If you are baptized already, spend quality time daily praying in tongues, in the car, at home, on the job, when writing a proposal, and in all situations.
