“When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not wholly reap the corners of your field…you shall leave them for the poor and the stranger: I am the Lord your God.” – Leviticus 19:9-10
REFERENCE:
Prosperity is a product of the conscious effort of man to succeed and the blessing of God. Men work hard, invest in businesses, invent, produce, or buy and sell to get wealth. These are legitimate means to wealth, but there is a divine dimension to prosperity. Solomon said riches do not necessarily go to men of skills, but time and chance favor them. God expects that those whom favor has smiled on and are prosperous should be generous. It is a divine responsibility.
The fundamental principle of biblical prosperity is, “To increase, you must release, and to get, you must give,” according to the law of sowing and reaping. The mindset of giving at different levels undergirds prosperity. Businesses give back to their communities, some rich men do philanthropic acts, and most churches support the weak, poor, and widows; this perpetuates their prosperity. In whatever God gives you, there is a portion to eat and a portion to give back; if you want to remain prosperous, do not eat the part to be given out. The blessings of God in your life don’t all belong to you; they are for others too. Your responsibility is to be a conduit through which what belongs to others gets to them.
“Always leave some for others” is the prosperous mindset God wants you to cultivate. He told Israel that when they reaped their harvests, they should not glean everything in the field; they should leave some for the poor. God expected them to be mindful of the less privileged in their prosperity. You do not have to have all the money you desire before you start to think and act like this; start now. Don’t cook and eat everything in the pot because a neighbor may need food. Let go of things for people and look for ways to bless the underprivileged. Give out whatever you can afford to. A poor person in today’s text may not necessarily be destitute; it could just be someone deficient in some area where you have abundance. So, look out for such people intentionally and do them good. It will bring great relief to them, especially in this economic clime. Those whom heaven calls rich have this mindset and way of life. Decide to make this your mindset and way of life too, and God will bless you. See you at the top!
