The lazy man does not roast what he takes in hunting, but diligence is man’s precious possession. ~ Proverbs 12:27
REFERENCE
Proverbs 12:27
The bible describes the hunter who kills a game but does not roast it as a “lazy man” because in the act of hunting, the only effort the hunter puts in, is to search and kill the animal. It was God that made the animal, provided their needs to that point and brought them across the hunter’s path, so there is nothing special the hunter does.
In the same way, all our native skills, congenital talents, abilities, propensities, flairs etc, were put in us by God; we didn’t do anything to have them. All we had to do like the hunter, was search within us and discover them. But, if we stop at the point of just discovery and not do anything about these gifts, we are termed as, “lazy people.”
If the hunter goes an extra mile to roast the game he took in hunting, the game will automatically increase in market value. It becomes edible, presentable, sustainable, refined, cured of its impurities and beneficial to the end user. This is why it is important for the hunter to know how to roast his game.
As it relates to our lives, it is the additional effort we put to refine and process our gifts that will bring us more value for them. Until our gifts are refined, we cannot be separated from the crowd of people with the same gifts. Refining our gifts will require skill, brainwork, planning, proper evaluation, strategizing, etc,.
