“The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms…” ~ Deuteronomy 33:27
REFERENCE:
This scripture verse has been my ‘go to verse’ for years. When I find myself going through uncertain seasons of life and things happen that I do not understand or have any control over, I close my eyes and tell myself, envisioning it while I do so, “Wale, underneath you are God’s everlasting arms; you will not fall; God will steady you and everything will be alright.”
Throughout the chapter, Moses invoked his ‘parting’ blessings upon the children of Israel. And if they should doubt that God would fulfill his words, he told them that there is no one like the God of Jeshurun who rides gloriously on the clouds of the heavens to help His people. He told them that the eternal God was their refuge, and the everlasting arms were underneath them.
What did Moses mean? Israel should know that there is an omnipotent hand that would fulfill every word of blessing; he wanted them to know that should a time come when they feel uncertain or when their realities do not look like their promise, they should know that God has it all figured out; His hands will steady their boat and take them safely to the harbor. It is well.
The God of Jeshurun has a track record of keeping His word; He will not begin to fail with you. No matter what life throws at you or how the waters of uncertainties rock your boat, He will stabilize you. The arms that bear you up will also ‘thrust out the enemy before you’ and cause you to dwell in safety. Moses called Him the fountain of Jacob. Yes, He will provide for you in a dry place, give you grain and new wine, and cause heaven’s dew to drop on you.
Be like me; let this scripture anchor your soul, knowing that the everlasting arms are always underneath you. You cannot fail, and God will not allow you to bow your head in shame. Opposers may push you violently, but for some reason, they will discover that you will not fall. You are fastened securely as a peg in the soil of the love of God. You will be just fine.
