“…and because he (Herod) saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to seize Peter also.” – Acts 12:3

ACTS 12:1-5

Herod beheaded James and proceeded to take Peter; the illusion that the 12 apostles enjoyed ‘unique’ protection was shattered. Satan takes no prisoners and has no sacred cows; he comes for whoever is ‘exposed.’ Over the years, he has employed various agents to trouble God’s people: Pharaoh, Haman, Sanballat, Saul, Pharisees, Sennacherib, etc. They were all just satan’s tools, and today there are still many harassing hands stretched out against God’s people. Satan will use a pen, phone, mouth, social media, and the actions or inactions of his willing accomplices to cause pain to God’s people.

Powers come into a church to harass the members with satanic maneuvers, operations, manipulations, and strategies designed to delay or deny God’s original plans and purposes for His people. They use sicknesses, untimely deaths, divorce in marriages, barrenness, no marriages amongst singles, lack of jobs, infightings, failure in life and career, depression, addictions, lethargy, stagnation, etc. However, we are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus; we have what it takes to walk in dominion over all harassment. If God is for us, who can be against us?

All Herod needed to continue harassing the church was the apathy or indifference of the saints. The church felt it was just one man until satan took another. What you permit will persist, what you do not confront will control you, and what you do not challenge will not change. If you do nothing about evil, what you say to the enemy is “take, take, and keep taking.” Your refusal to resist the works of the devil in your life indicates how much and how long you want to remain subjected to adverse situations. You were born again to reign again, not to suffer again.

Be careful – be quick to discern satanic attacks or patterns contrary to God’s plan and promise for you, and vigorously fight them. Do not permit them; resist them instead. Job missed an opportunity to rebuke the devil at his first attack until he lost everything and his children. You are not a victim; you are God’s battle-axe. You will not fail for resisting the devil; God will be by your side. He will fight for you, lift you up, and set you firmly in a place of victory.

 PRAYERS

“Father, I execute the written divine judgment against all Herodian and satanic agents and activities. Disappoint all their devices so that their hands may not be able to perform their enterprise. Let all their plans and attacks against me fail. Lord, draw out Your weapons of war and stop them in their way. Let them be confounded and put to shame. Let them be turned back and brought to confusion. Let them be as chaff driven by the wind. O Lord, take hold of Your battle armor and stand up for my help, in Jesus’ name Amen.
